Wendy's attorneys are requiring a $100,000 retainer to file the appeal to a higher court hoping to overturn the judge's sentence. She does not have it. All prior sources of funds are tapped out. If Wendy cannot raise the money before early July, she will have to begin to serve the full 10-year sentence rather remaining free on bond. I know we all have bills and commitments, but tzedakah is needed NOW! Not when the bills are paid. NOW!

I don't know if any of you have been following Wendy Runge's trial cases in IOWA, USA. Please daven for her, Zeva Rochel bas Chaya. She is a frum mother of four from Minnesota, a film producer, who participated in IOWA's tax credit program. Her case is complicated, but there's smell of anti-semitism. To make the story short, she was acquitted of all charges except a minor one which she had to plead guilty to, i.e. she held herself responsible for not knowing that her staff cheated the State of IOWA by blowing up the budget. That was in the month of Adar 1, which was a good month for the Jews. Then for some strange reason, in May 2011, the State of IOWA re-sentenced her to a 10-year prison.
