Baruch Dayan HaEmes in hearing the news about the death of the 55-year old, gentile, Scottish woman, Mary Jane Gardner, who was murdered in today's terrorist bombing in Jerusalem, at a public telephone booth, near a kiosk called "Blast of a Kiosk,” re-named after a 1994 suicide bombing that destroyed it. Ms. Gardner was studying Hebrew at Hebrew University to translate her book of avodah zarah (NT) in a possible missionary work.
The location of the blast is close to the busy Jerusalem's Central Bus Station, opposite the building "Binyanei HaUma", the International Convention Centre, which is also the largest in the Middle East. The bombing was not a suicide attack, but was from a four-pound bomb left unattended. The bombing injured at least 50 people.

The location of the bomb blast is a very busy place. I used to change buses at that location when I travel to Jerusalem, to either take the local buses to the Kotel, or walk a bit further to take the buses to Beitar Illit or enter the Jerusalem Bus Station to hop on the bus to Rehovot, or take the bus to Beit Shemesh.
This week's parasha is Parashas Shemini, where Aharon's two sons, Nadav and Avihu, were taken by Hashem, after sacrificing a strange fire to Him. Hashem is sanctified by those who are close to Him.
ג וַיֹּאמֶר משֶׁה אֶל-אַהֲרֹן הוּא אֲשֶׁר-דִּבֶּר יְהוָֹה לֵאמֹר בִּקְרֹבַי אֶקָּדֵשׁ וְעַל-פְּנֵי כָל-הָעָם אֶכָּבֵד וַיִּדֹּם אַהֲרֹן
Moshe said to Aharon, "It is as Hashem spoke, saying, 'Through those who are near to me, I shall be sanctified, and in the presence of the entire people, I will be glorified'", and Aharon was silent. (Parashas Shemini, Vayikra 10:3)
This week's parsha also instructs Jews about being holy by keeping kosher. For those of you who are unfamilar with the standard of kashrus kept in Jerusalem, you might want to visit Jerusalem Kosher News, which makes the public aware of the unfortunately, many unauthorized, scam kashrus certificates that appear in restaurants and food establishments in Jerusalem and around the country.
Hashem is definitely doing His part to wake us up from our slumber. We need to return to Hashem. The people of Israel needs to return to Hashem.
